What the terms actually say

Section 8 — User Content

you expressly grant... to IXL a royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use... all such User Content

IXL claims a permanent, irrevocable right to use anything you post, which survives even if you delete your account.

Section 14 — Modification or Termination of Service

IXL, in its sole discretion, may suspend or terminate your password, account... for any reason... without prior notice

IXL can delete your account and all your data at any time, for any reason, without telling you first.

Section 5 — Student Data Access and Deletion Requests

A School may request that we delete Student Data in our possession at any time... and we shall comply with such request within thirty (30) days.

IXL provides a clear, time-bound commitment to delete student data upon request.

Section 22 — Arbitration

you and IXL agree to resolve any claim... by binding arbitration... you and IXL agree that, by agreeing to arbitrate, the parties are each waiving the right to a trial by jury.

You are forced into private arbitration and waive your right to a jury trial or class action lawsuit.
